We are looking for a talented Engineer to join our team.
This position is within our Generation Team, which supports our clients both with existing generation plant and new grid connection projects. The industry is presently experiencing unprecedented growth in connection of renewable energy resources including wind, solar and geothermal. Niko Engineering Limited is a key part of this and is seeking to grow its capability to support clients.
Key aspects of the role are:
- Power system analysis of both traditional synchronous and inverter-based generation sources.
- Power system modelling using a variety of software including DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E and PSCAD.
- Supporting generation connections throughout the connection application process, communicating technical outputs to all relevant stakeholders.
- Writing reports, communicating the outputs of analysis and design work.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients.
- Communicating effectively and coordinating project activities with others as needed.
- Keeping abreast of International Standards, New Zealand and Australian Standards, and legislative requirements.
What we are looking for:
To be successful you will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or another similar technical area.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in grid connections; applicants with 5 or more years’ experience in related areas will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- A passion for the electricity industry, enjoy solving complex problems, and demonstrate initiative and drive.
- The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
- Great communication, presentation, and computer skills.
- An eagerness to learn.
