On Tuesday 29th November Tesla staff joined a community led blessing of a new name for the street on which our Hamilton Office is located. The name of colonial solder Gustavus Ferdinand von Tempsky was replaced with Puutikitiki, referring to the gully near the north end of our street.
The Hamilton City Council community committee arranged this change, (with the support of iwi and local residents). Council information releases state there has been growing debate for the city to revisit street names honouring colonial figures who played a role in land confiscations.
Tesla’s Office address is now 18 Puutikitiki Street, Hamilton East 3216. Our postal address remains PO Box 645, Hamilton 3240.
