It is with great admiration and gratitude that we celebrate Alan’s retirement after an extraordinary career spanning nearly five decades.
Alan began his journey in 1974 as a Radio Technician for the Post Office in Blenheim. From there, his expertise and dedication took him to Whakamaru as a Comms Technician, and later to Wellington, where he played a key role in the nationwide rollout of microwave radio. In 1986, Alan relocated to Hamilton as a Communications and SCADA Specialist, and in 2001, he joined Niko (then Tesla), bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and passion for the industry.
Alan’s contributions in those early years were pivotal. Through his hard work and leadership, he helped establish Niko as a leader in Comms, Control, and SCADA work, a legacy that remains today. Thanks to his vision and dedication, Niko is proud to be the only company in the electrical sector with a dedicated Comms group of engineers.
Alan’s leadership extended beyond his technical expertise. In 2004, he became a Director of Niko, a position he held for 16 years. He further demonstrated his commitment and guidance by stepping into the role of Managing Director from 2016 to 2021.
As we bid farewell to Alan in his retirement, we reflect on his remarkable career and the lasting impact he has had on @Niko and the industry as a whole. His legacy will continue to shape our company for many years to come.
Thank you, Alan, for your exceptional service, leadership, and unwavering dedication. We wish you all the best in your well-deserved retirement!
