Role Overview:  Join us as a Principal Electrical Engineer primarily in the Generation space, leading and executing projects for Transpower and our generation and distribution clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed designs, technical specifications, and reports for substation projects, including switchyard layouts, primary equipment, MV/HV cable installation, earthing systems, and lightning protection.
  • Prepare proposals for design tenders.
  • Provide project engineering support for generation and distribution client projects.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews.
  • Mentor and coach intermediate/junior engineers.
  • Stay updated with standards and legislative requirements.
  • Coordinate project activities and manage time effectively.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards accreditation.
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years in electrical engineering within the NZ market, with at least 6 years in design roles.
  • Experience in HV/LV/generation and distribution power systems.
  • Practical power system design experience up to 220kV.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
