Role Overview: Join us as a Principal Electrical Engineer primarily in the Generation space, leading and executing projects for Transpower and our generation and distribution clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed designs, technical specifications, and reports for substation projects, including switchyard layouts, primary equipment, MV/HV cable installation, earthing systems, and lightning protection.
- Prepare proposals for design tenders.
- Provide project engineering support for generation and distribution client projects.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews.
- Mentor and coach intermediate/junior engineers.
- Stay updated with standards and legislative requirements.
- Coordinate project activities and manage time effectively.
- Develop and maintain client relationships.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Chartered Engineer or working towards accreditation.
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years in electrical engineering within the NZ market, with at least 6 years in design roles.
- Experience in HV/LV/generation and distribution power systems.
- Practical power system design experience up to 220kV.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
